وَلَا تَمْشِ فِى الْأَرْضِ مَرَحًا ۖ إِنَّكَ لَن تَخْرِقَ الْأَرْضَ

Do not strut arrogantly on the earth you will never split the earth apart nor will you ever rival the mountains in height.
One of our strategic objectives is to create mass awareness amongst Muslims both about what is happening to planet earth and how we may have recourse to Islamic teachings to deal with this matter. You will find in this section material we have developed over the years which could be categorised as Islamic environmental education and which is now used in various parts of the world to good effect. We would be the first to say that this is wholly inadequate given the enormity of the task we have undertaken and that we should be doing more. Here we come up against a resource issue. The more people support us the more we can deliver and if you wish to help us in developing this very important work please follow this link.
You will also find in this section a wide range of articles, essays and reviews dealing with Islamic insights and cutting edge analysis (link to papers, essays, articles below) written by us for academia, learned journals and mainstream institutions. We would however like to widen the scope of this section and if you have any material that is germane to this work, whether it is teachings on Islam and the environment or a wider discussion on the environmental conundrum we face, please send them to us and we will try to include them in this section. We will also attempt to include material from other sources, like those you will find in the video section, which we consider will help you to broaden your understanding of this subject.

A CD version was produced in 2005 and an Indonesian version in 2007.

This bibliography of Islamic literature on the environment is the result of years of labour expended by Prof. Richard Foltz of Concordia University, Montreal, Canada. He has kindly allowed us the use of this resource and as he has left it dormant for some time it now needs updating. If you are aware of any material that will qualify for inclusion please let us know and we will endeavour to include it in this list.
