Fatima D’Oyen has an MA in Education; Adv. Dipl. Child Development, was born in New York in 1960 and embraced Islam in 1979. She first developed an interest in sustainability and holistic living in New Mexico among Native Americans and pioneers of alternative architecture. A former Girl Scout and Scouts/Girl Guides leader, Fatima has authored Muslim children’s books and been active in Islamic education since 1983. She was a co-founder of the Quest Foundation for Learning before establishing Manara Education CIC and Manara Academy, a Montessori-inspired Islamic flexi-school. Fatima has a lifelong interest in education, spirituality, culture and green living. She lives with her husband and son in their partly solar-powered home in Leicester, UK.
